CyberSight: SecurityFill the large gaps left by all other current security productsYour IT system is currently not protected from many thousands of threats Your existing security system is like a very course mesh security net around your network, trying to catch incoming threats to your system. Unfortunately there are several problems with this:
Even the latest security products cannot protect you against the thousands of threats that are out there today. Every time a new technology comes out it will protect you against another 1% of the security issues, but is it worth it? FirewallsFirewalls can be very expensive and require even more expensive hardware and dedicated staff to manage and run effectively. But even then they only protect you against the "old school" method of hacking which is hardly used any more because firewalls exist. The new hacking tools are designed to bypass firewalls altogether using several methods including HTTP tunnelling which makes network traffic look just like web traffic, and therefore completely ignored by a firewall. A firewall is also perimeter security and a large proportion of threats originate inside corporate networks. Content checkersContent checkers generally only check for viruses and more often than not produce a large percentage of false positives, requiring dedicated staff to filter through queued mail to send it on its way. Content checkers are also very source dependent - if a document or executable does not arrive through the email, or it is wrapped up or encrypted, then it bypasses the content checker completely. Virus checkersVirus checkers only check for viruses. It's what they're designed to do. The vast majority of the tools available are not viruses and therefore will never be detected by this type of security. It is true that some of the more well known trojans are picked up by virus checkers (NetBus and BackOrifice for example) but there are thousands that aren't and never will be. EncryptionEncryption is only good if you're secure. Even with the strongest encryption, if someone is able to watch you as you edit an encrypted document, then the encryption has been completely bypassed. It's a bit like locking the gate to a field with no hedges. If people can get in and have a look around, it is easy to get around encryption. Intruder detectionIntruder detection tools pick up a very limited number of intrusion tools and methods and will only pick them up once they are activated, by which time it could be too late. All of the technology used in security products, no matter how advanced, is available to potential intruders too. And, ironically, tends to be more effectively used for unintended purposes. CyberSight™ is like having a very fine mesh net inside your existing security net to catch and detect everything that gets through. The majority of current security products do exactly what they say on the tin but there are methods of bypassing them all. CyberSight™ complements your existing security system - it is not designed to replace it. However, if you currently have no security in place at all, there is no more cost-effective solution on the market. Because CyberSight™ works at the lowest level possible, there is no way of hiding from it. If a threat exists on your system, CyberSight™ will detect it and, if required, remove it immediately. If the threat is very new or even specific only to your company (for example, a confidential document that should not be anywhere else on the network) it is very easy to index the threat yourself and detect it instantly. |
