CyberSight: Security

Stop Industrial Espionage

Your competitors may already be watching your every move.

Given the right tools, which are readily available, it is surprisingly easy for people to watch you as you work.

There are many things inside a company that might be valuable to a third party:

  • customer database information
  • sales tenders
  • product information
  • customer correspondence
  • financial details

Viewing your screen while you edit an encrypted document, capturing every key stroke you make or looking through your hard disk and even your network drives are literally mouse clicks away for potential intruders.

. . . and "intruders", in this instance, does not just refer to people from outside your organisation. An intruder could be an employee accessing part of the system they're not supposed to have access to.

Remember that all of the new methods and technologies are available to everyone. Hackers, employees and even competitors all have access to these technologies which enable them to watch you as you work. This also means that any tools used are designed to get around the methods and technologies used to detect them, making them extremely difficult to detect and/or remove.

There are many encryption technologies available on the market at the moment with "uncrackable" passwords or keys. However, if your network is not totally secure, it is possible to unobtrusively view what is on your screen at any time - and if that happens to be an encrypted document then the encryption has been totally bypassed. Even worse is if your password or private key happens to be on the screen!

Encryption on an unsecure network is like having an iron door on a greenhouse. If people can see through the glass then what is the point of an "iron door"?

Encryption technologies can also be expensive and difficult to maintain.

Firewalls may not protect the network either. The tools available today are designed to get straight through firewalls. One method is to use HTTP tunnelling, so that incoming and outgoing traffic looks just like web traffic - a firewall won't even look at it.

CyberSight™ gives you the ability to find thousands of threats including screen grabbers, key loggers and remote access tools. It also gives you the ability to add your own - if you find a program or a file and want to see if it exists anywhere else on your system, it can be added to CyberSight™ and instantly detected across the network. CyberSight™ is not source dependent - in other words it doesn't matter how a file or application arrived on someone's computer. It is too easy to bypass source dependent security products, like firewalls an content checkers. If there is a file on your network that shouldn't be, CyberSight™ will tell you about it and, if required, remove it instantly.
